How do I manually add a second IP address to my Windows installation?
If you have purchased a second ip address for your Windows installation and need to add the new static ip address, follow these simple steps:
Select the Start Menu on your machine and then right click on Network and Select Properties.
From within the Network and Sharing Center click on View status next to Local Area Connection and then once again click on Properties.
Once in the Local Area Connection Properties box select Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and then click on Properties.
In the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) Propeties Box you will want to click on the bubble Use the following IP address and enter in your servers main IP address *This is not your new IP*
IP Adress: Servers Main IP address
Subnet mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: Servers main IP address except the last digit should be .1 EX. Servers IP is 123.456.789.123 then default gateway should be 123.456.789.1
Preferred DNS server: 188.8.131.52
Alternate DNS server: 184.108.40.206
After this has been set you will want to click on the Advanced button which will pull up a box for Advanced TCP/IP Settings.
Within this box click on Add... and then enter in your newly obtained Second IP address in the IP address box and 255.255.255.0 in the Subnet mask box and then hit Add.
