Note: A bare metal restore will completely overwrite any data on the server. As a general precaution, please make sure any critical data is backed up remotely while the server is accessible regardless of whether you believe it to be in the R1soft backup recovery points.
Bare metal restores are only possible for customers with an active, paid, R1Soft package associated with their account. All managed servers have R1Soft backup packages included. Please contact our support department if you would like to add a backup package to your account.
If you have an active R1Soft backup package with us and need to bare-metal restore the entire server from a previous date/recovery point, the first step is to boot the server to the R1Soft recovery media iso.
If you have a VPS, this would require accessing the Dotblock client area and go to Manage Servers > My VPS > Manage Product
Under the Server Information tab, change the Boot Order to CDROM and set ISO to ServerBackup Ubuntu Bootcd Agent. Then fully shutdown the server and then reboot it to boot to the recovery media
Once the server has been booted to the recovery media, access the R1Soft backup system from Manage Servers > My Extras > click Manage next to the backup package which will log you into the R1Soft backup system. From here, please follow the latest R1Soft instructions for performing the bare-metal restore based on your needs: http://wiki.r1soft.com/display/ServerBackupManager/Perform+a+bare-metal+restore
Once the restore has been completed, you will need to shut the server down, change the Boot Order back to Hard Disk and then reboot the server.
If you have a Dedicated server, please contact our support to request the R1soft recovery media be mounted for you. Our support can be reached by emailing [email protected] or by calling 1.866.923.4550
